Classes Currently Offered

Dance with Me- This class is for both the child and parent or caretaker.  It is a great introduction into both dance and a classroom setting for children who have never had formal lessons or preschool.  This is also a good option if your child is not quite confident in taking class without you present.  

Pre-Ballet- This is a 30 minute class designed to introduce students to a formal dance class setting where they will learn basic pre-ballet movements.  Classes will also consist of fun games and improvisation so they can be creative!

Pre-Ballet & Tap- This is a 45 minute class designed to introduce students to a formal dance class setting where they will learn basic pre-ballet and tap movements.  Classes will also consist of fun games and improvisation so they can be creative! Due to the longer amount of time than the 30 minute Pre-Ballet class, these students will need the ability to focus a bit more and having taken a class before can be beneficial. This class is not recommended for students who prefer a quiet class, as the tap shoes will be loud (see tap dance description for more info).

Due to the longer amount of time than the 30 minute Pre-Ballet class, these students will need the ability to focus a bit more and having taken a class before can be beneficial.

Dance & Tumble- This is a 45 minute class designed to introduce students to a formal dance class setting where they will learn basic dance and tumbling movements (rolls, crab walks etc.). Classes will also consist of fun games and improvisation so they can be creative! Due to the longer amount of time than the 30 minute Pre-Ballet class, these students will need the ability to focus a bit more and having taken a class before can be beneficial.

Acro- These classes work on building the strength and flexibility to execute acrobatic and tumbling skills. In order to progress safely, dancers must be committed to training.

Ballet- Ballet is a beautiful artform that promotes balance, flexibility, poise, athleticism, and discipline.  Ballet classes may seem “slow” to some dancers because it takes time to understand and execute even small movements correctly.  Music used for class is often piano accompaniment.  Ballet is highly recommended for dancers wishing to improve their overall dance technique as well as lyrical, contemporary, modern, and jazz dancers.

Pointe- Pointe is ballet performed on the toes. Dancers must be at least 12 years old, approved to be on pointe by the studio, and taking at least 2 ballet classes per week in addition to their pointe class.  All pointe shoes must be professionally fitted.

Contemporary- Contemporary is a mix of dance styles including modern, lyrical, jazz, and sometimes even hip hop. Improvisation can also be utilized. Music used for class can be from any genre. Taking ballet is also highly recommended for foundational technique.

Lyrical- Lyrical dance is a mix of jazz and ballet where movements often evoke emotions or tell a story. Music used for class is often ballads and slow tempos.  Taking ballet is also highly recommended for foundational technique.

Modern- Modern dance was created in the 19th century to go against some of the confines of ballet and positions are not always “pretty.” Floorwork and improvisation are often utilized.  As there are many different modern dance techniques including Horton, Limon, Graham, Release, Post Modern, etc.  The style that will be used in class will vary depending on the teacher and their background. Music used for this class can be from any genre.  Traditional classes will use drumming.  Taking ballet is also highly recommended for foundational technique.

Jazz- Jazz dance is an upbeat, high-energy style that today is most often performed to pop music or traditional jazz. Taking ballet is also highly recommended for foundational technique.

Pom- Pom dance combines elements of jazz dance with cheerleading arm movements while holding pom poms.  This is a high-energy style that is recommended for dancers interested in joining their school dance teams.  Taking jazz is also highly recommended for foundational technique.

Hip Hop- Hip Hop dance came out of the African American community as a style to dance to hip hop music.  This is a high-energy, upbeat style that can combine many techniques such as popping, locking, house, jazz, and more.  The style that will be used in class will vary depending on the teacher and their background.

Tap- Tap dance is a style that uses metal on the bottoms of shoes in order to make sounds and musical rhythms. This is an upbeat, high-energy class.  Music used can be any genre but is most commonly pop or jazz.   

Leaps and Turns- This is a jazz based technique only (no choreography learned) class.  Dancers will warm up before working on their leaps and turns.

Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT)- This is a fitness class that focuses on exercises that will help strengthen the muscles needed for ballet technique. This class should not be thought of as an actual ballet class, but as a supplemental fitness class.  It is also great for athletes of all kinds.

Stretch and Conditioning- This is a fitness class that will work on strengthening, stretching, and conditioning that will help dancers perform their best.  It is also great for athletes of all kinds.

Swing Dance

East Coast Swing- 6 count partner dance
Lindy Hop- 8 count partner dance
West Coast Swing- 8 count partner dance

Charleston- can be done as a partner dance or solo
Balboa- partner dance with close positioning and small intricate footwork

Blues- partner or solo dance to slower music
Solo Jazz- Vernacular jazz

Programs & Additional Performing Opportunities

Pre-Professional Ballet Program- This program is designed for serious ballet students ages 5 and up.  Students must pass exams to reach each level.  Each progressing level requires additional classes. Classes are focused on proper technique and precision. There is a strict dress code for these classes. Levels 1-4 perform in the Spring Ballet performance instead of the studio recital. 

Diversiform Dance Project Youth Company- The youth company provides students ages 8-18 with additional performing opportunities including sporting events, community events, prestigious dance festivals, and their own stage show. Students can be involved in Fall Semester and/or the Winter/Spring semester. There is no audition required, but students will be chosen by teachers for certain pieces.  Dancers must be in at least 3 classes with one being ballet, jazz, or lyrical in addition to the company.  The company has a strict attendance policy and is meant for highly committed dancers.

Diversiform Dance Project 2- This company is for adults!  No audition required.  Dancers must commit to the rehearsal schedule and get the opportunity to perform in the community and in a stage performance.

Nutcracker- Our annual Nutcracker production is available for all dancers ages 4-adult.  The production requires an audition, but all dancers are given a role.  Practices occur every weekend from September to the show in December and there is a strict attendance policy.  

Spring Ballet- Our Spring Ballet production is available for all ballet dancers ages 5-adult.   The production requires an audition, but all dancers are given a role.  Practices occur every weekend from January to the show in May and there is a strict attendance policy.
